Maracá Brazilian Culture focuses on establishing dialogues with and setting in motion our traditional culture. Grounded on a reflection about the process of artistic creation and its aesthetic and social responsibilities, we conduct a wide-ranging project involving research, documentation, art-education and cultural production.
Since 1991, we have been organizing an archive comprised of over 1800 hours of audiovisual recordings and more than 50,000 photographs of popular traditions – a material which has been the basis for the production of over 30 musical albums, 12 feature documentaries, books and other kinds of award winning publications.
